The Sweetener Your Pancreas Hates

By Susan Guzman

I have a friend of mine who passed away almost 1 year ago from pancreatic cancer. We were childhood friends, and we maintained our friendship all through our adult years. Out of the entire group of friends we hung around with, Karen was the healthiest. She never smoked, never drank, and the worst thing she ever did was try smoking pot, but not even that was anything you would say she abused. Yet at 47 years old she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was positive and upbeat and believed with all her heart that she was going to be one of the few cancer victims to beat this disease. She had the Whipple Surgery, which she was lucky enough to be a candidate for, and she was given and extra 3 years of life because of that. Unfortunately, in the end, Karen passed away 15 days after her 50th birthday. We often wonder why she got it and others of us who did not live as clean of a life as her have been spared so far. Who will ever be able to say for sure, but I have just come across this article from the "Real Age" newsletter that I receive and they have an interesting article on pancreatic cancer that I wanted to pass on to my readers. Is there any validity to it, who knows for sure, but it does give us something to think about in regards to all the processed and artificial foods that are pushed in our faces everyday. I say, eat healthy, choose wisely daily, eat whole food that are from our earth, and organic if possible. Yes, there are times when you feel like being bad and want to indulge in the delicious bad food, but do it moderately.
